Make or Break Colors for your Engagement Session!

Because…it really does matter!

Hey there! I’m Makenna with Makenna Brylee Photography and I want to talk about engagement session outfits. I’ve seen too many horror stories where the colors clashed, the location had nothing in relation to the styles, and the colors were edited waaay off because they didn’t compliment the skin tone.

However, to some one who isn’t a photographer, you might not know about this stuff and that what I’m here for! Here are some basic dos and don'ts:

Do

try to wear Earth Tones! This will look the BEST for colors.

So there are usually a few colors that will ALWAYS look great on camera:

  • Cream/ivory

  • Black

  • Light Blue

  • Yellow/mustard

  • Forest Green

  • Dark Red/maroon

  • Denim

Honestly these colors have given the best look on every skin tone in any location.

Don’t!

wear clashing prints…or just anything going on here…

When you both wear a clashing print and colors, then it takes the attention off of you guys and on the distraction of the clash.

P.S…. not my photo lol I googled it.

I’ll show you a great example of patterns right here:

So as you are picking out your outfits, remember some of these dos and don’ts. If someone wants to wear a print, what solid can the other person wear to compliment it? Or what colors are closer to earth tones?

Also, You can never go wrong with denim or leather!

I fully believe you can be yourself with your styles and still look coordinated! Never try to be something your not and always throw in some flare :)

The best look you can have is YOU! Xx
